Rocky City Swimming Club
Rocky City Swimming Club was formed in 1990 to provide a group of swimmers with the opportunity to train, compete, and develop the technical skills of the sport of swimming. The club currently trains at the CQUniversity pool, which is a part of the CQUniversity Community Sports Centre. Over its existence, Rocky City Swimming has produced many swimmers who have qualified for regional, state and national teams.
The club has activities for everyone, whether they want to swim for fun, fitness, or swim at the most competitive level. The skills of the Rocky City Coaching Team include coaching and teaching swimmers with a disability, coaching open water swimmers, coaching triathletes, and junior development. As the club’s learn to swim partner, we provide a pathway for learn-to-swim students to enter Rocky City Swimming, and use the skills they learn at swimming lessons.
Rocky City Club Nights are run Thursday nights from 5:30pm – 6:45pm over school terms 1, 3 and 4 at the CQUniversity Sports Centre pool. Club Nights cater for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Races are offered in every stroke, commencing with 15m, all the way to 400m. All swimmers compete against their own best times, which are recorded each week for swimmers to benchmark. As swimmers reach a proficiency level for a stroke, they can proceed to the next distance. Some swimmers just like to swim on club nights and monitor their improvement each week.
