Baby Swim Lessons
We pride ourselves on our baby programs! Developed right here at Splash, our baby programs ensure you and your baby are comfortable in the water and then our instructors will guide you in the correct ways to teach your little one to move about in the water.
With 2 different babies levels, we are able to teach babies from as young as about 4mths (or once the child has good head/neck control) right up until they are toddlers and ready to swim on their own with an instructor. Filled with fun songs, dancing and visual stimulation, we guarantee your baby will have fun and you might too!
Learn to Swim Lessons
“It’s not the distance that you go, it’s the technique that you show.”
Our unique learn to swim program has been designed right here at Splash. Having staff who specialize from babies right through to Silver level coaches means our program gives children the best opportunity to progress their swimming skills quickly and efficiently.
As our swim school philosophy states, we focus primarily on swimming technique. With excellent technique, swimming greater distances comes more easily.
The success of our program is evident in the number of very young swimmers (aged as young as 5) we have progressing through to our squads.
In all of our levels we emphasis excellent body position and strong kicking before learning their arms, breathing and other strokes progressively.
Classes run for 30mins, with a maximum of 4 children per class.
Our squad swimmers are learning to be proficient in all 4 swim strokes. Classes include elements of fitness, as well as learning components of racing, while still predominantly focusing on excellent technique.
At this level the swimmer’s performance is finely tuned while steadily increasing their ability to maintain excellent technique whist swimming further and faster.
Our junior squad swimming classes run for 45mins and are limited to 4 children per class. Our senior squad classes run for 60mins and are limited to 10 children.
Talent Identification Classes
For children who are ready to progress form ‘learn to swim’ to club training and are selected by their instructor, our TID classes help bridge the gap. These classes are designed to help children learn elements such as more complicated drills, recovery methods, cycle swimming, and the importance of diet on performance. With multiple training sessions required at this level, children are prepared for the requirements of swimming for a club squad allowing a smoother transition for children, parents and coaches.
Affiliated with Rocky City Swim Club – Club Nights (Splash & Rocky City)
Most swim schools just teach children to learn to swim. But it’s common knowledge that if a child enjoys what they learn, they are more likely to learn at a faster rate. Being affiliated with Rocky City Swim Club means our swimmers not only learn to swim, but they can choose swimming to be a sport and they can participate in race meets both local and abroad.
We encourage our swimmers to participate in our Splash and Rocky City Club nights. Unique to splash, our club nights are mini race nights held on Friday nights during winter at Splash. These nights are all about having fun and children using their learn to swim skills to race against children of their own learn to swim level.
Rocky City Club nights are held out at the CQ University pool in the warmer months and are a great way for Splash swimmers to advance their skills as well as participate in a team environment.
Our pool is perfect for anyone who is recovering from surgery or injury or just wanting low impact exercise. With steps leading into the pool, a depth of 1.0m to 1.2m and handrails and ledges running most of the perimeter of the pool, it makes accessibility and movability easy. Our pool is open to the general public most days of the week. (See the timetable)
